Into The Deep

Sometimes, you just need to be submerged. It’s such a wonderful feeling when God’s presence flows over you. Hope you enjoy this Thursday tune as deeply as I have over the past few months – it’s been such nourishment for my soul for awhile now and I thought I’d share. It’s definitely one of those songs where the words speak for themselves, no additions necessary.

Come To Me

Goodness, time flies – it’s already the last day of February, and a week since I turned 23 (I got to celebrate with my friends for most of the week, which was quite spectacular!). As a small end-of-February celebration, I thought that I’d share some music that I’ve been listening to as my bread and butter for the past month, a song that I’m sure will encourage and refresh anyone who hears, as much as it did me. I don’t remember how I came across it (probably on Pandora – that app seriously gets it right sometimes), but it was close to the end of January, and I remember stopping whatever I was doing to listen to the words of this song. The words gripped me, not only because of their simplicity, but because of the power and absolute truth behind them. They’re written as if straight from God’s heart to ours, and it’s just overwhelmingly beautiful to me. Continue reading

With finals looming for friends everywhere, this comes to mind: it’s so easy to feel hollow and ran dry by the gaggle of information to study, sleepless (and foodless) nights, and general pressure of exams. But, the best thing is that when we are completely weak, the Lord is stronger and is pouring strength into us so we never have to feel mentally or emotionally empty (though being mentally tired from studying is a different story!). I can confidently look to Jesus for help, and in return He says, My grace is sufficient for you, Layo, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.

How powerful is that?

When my days are filled with extremely early mornings and extremely late nights (and 2 AM wake-ups for even more studying…) – when I throw my hands up in exhaustion and say, “Jesus, take my wheel! And my car keys. And my car. And my credit card for gas. And please, just drive!” – I know that no matter how things go, everything will be more than alright. “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me… For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12: 9-10)

So hold me / Wrap me in love, fill up my cup / Only your love can fill up my cup

Worth It

I’m declaring it Tori Kelly Tuesday, y’all, so that I can pass along the wonderful and timely reminder that whatever is meant to be, will be. All that hard work will pay off and it’ll all be worth it – be inspired, determined, and don’t ever give up.

(And I also wanted to share the loveliness that is Tori Kelly’s music and voice, of course.)
