I’ve long returned from my beautiful time of living in Paris… about 6 months ago, to be exact. I’ve yo-yoed back and forth about updating my blog here concerning my time in Paris, thinking it was way too late to have regular blog posts again about all things Paris. But it’s never too late to talk about one of my favorite places on earth. And so I’m resurrecting my blog to talk about Paris: my favorite and least favorite aspects, my adventures and my host family, the things I learned and the things I came to understand through my time there.
Those 4 months of life in Paris will forever be ingrained within my heart. Paris, France is now a part of me, and not in a cliché “romantic” way like every student who studies there, but rather in an understandable, “real life” sort of way. Now when I think of Paris, I don’t think of kisses in the rain under the Eiffel Tower, or of rude French people who don’t shower or shave. I think of Sylvain and Bastien, my host brothers, and how we loved to watch Koh-lanta (French “Survivor”) together. Or of coming back home to our apartment’s quirky sky blue door. Or of walking briskly down Rue de Douai toward the Pathé at 7:20 in the morning to ensure that I’d make the metro for my 8 am class. Or of looking out my window on Sunday afternoons and watching people pass by and listening to the dull murmur of cars blazing past on their way to unknowns.
I miss it, to say the least. Every part of it. And I can’t wait to go back!
That’s all for now… but this time I will be sure to update regularly on all those Parisian thoughts flowing through my head (it’ll be easier to remember things since my roommate is in Paris for the summer). And I’ll make sure to include future travels too: hopefully I’ll be visiting Greece next summer after graduation!
Lots of love until next time.
